Business Ethics for Philanthropy and Sponsorships- myassignmenthelp
Question: Discuss about the Business Ethics for Philanthropy and Sponsorships. Answer: Introduction The term Corporate Social Responsibility means that it the management where the organizations combine environmental and social matters in their companies to interact and operate with their other businessmen. CSR is the process through which the organization gets a balance of environmental, social and economic responsibility and they have to meet the expectations of stakeholders and shareholders. It is very important to create a difference between corporate social responsibility and the management concept of charity, philanthropy and sponsorships. There are two aspects or approaches in relation to CSR. It includes narrow view and broad view. Narrow view aims that the only objective of the business person is to get knowledge about the maximization of profit (Porter and Kramer 2018). On the contrary, the main purpose of the business entities is to maximize the profit and with that they also have the responsibility to look after the society and their ethics and there should be no negativ e implications on them. After going through the documentary blood, sweat and t-shirts it has been identified that the workers working in Indian factories from which UK retailers outsource their products are treated in a very inhuman manner. The main focus of this report is to analyze the ethical obligations of the UK retailers in relation to the factory workers. In the light of Deontology ethics, the paper analyzes which of the two aspects of CSR is more ethical. Broad view of CSR As identified, there are two separations of CSR first is the broad view while the second is Narrow view. This segment of this paper will deliberate the broad view of CSR. (Barnett, Henriques and Corregan 2018). The influence and effect which the corporations have relative to the civilization has augmented meaningfully in the advance eras where the budget has converted into the significantly capitalist. By leading the concept, this is the responsibility of the corporation to perform an ethical way and guarantee the attention of the civilization also like for an individual shareholder. As the corporation utilizes the capitals of the humanity and their procedure expressively possessions the atmosphere is the responsibility of the corporation to perform in a method which would reinstate the stability in the civilization. There are numerous welfares which a corporation is focused when they indulge into CSR actions (Hargrave 2015). The corporations underneath the broad view of CSR like as an implement of commercial. When the customers are conscious about the reality that the corporation is trying for the culture relatively they sense virtuous to be related with such type of corporations. Additionally, when the culture is conscious that a corporation centers its processes on ethical philosophies they are further expected to have conviction on the corporation (Thien 2015). The perception of broad view of CSR carried out to being by Keith Davis. Rendering to his philosophy this is unethical for the industries to take their decision to just generating revenue only. Trades have the accountability of observing that the activities of the corporation are ready to face the costs of the civilization like as moral inhabitant must guarantee that they alleviate any sufferers which are produced to the culture since of the activities they do. There is a main and subordinate connection which the corporations have with numerous sectors of the humanity and consequently this is a respo nsibility of the corporation to behave as an accountable resident and guarantee the advantage of the civilization entirely (Rasche et al., 2017) Narrow View on CSR Corporations are shaped for generating revenue. As the integration of a corporation has been completed for only generating revenue and profit, its main accountability is to just produce revenue rather than spoiling in any additional concern. Consequently, the narrow view of CSR specifies that the corporation should emphasis only on produce revenue and do not bother about the whole culture (Tanggamani and Amran 2015). This concept is reinforced by Milton Friedman in his published book Capitalism and Freedom. It is said in this book that the corporations should emphasis only on produce revenue and do not bother about the whole culture. At the other side, the responsibility which is payable in the direction of the culture is payable by the stockholders of the corporation. This identifies that the stockholders who generate revenue over the corporation are responsible for stand-in in the concentration of culture. The revenues they generate might be focused to the culture improvement by the mselves not by the corporation (Jiang and Wong 2015). Additionally, corporations are forced to a lot of taxes and dues by the administration in relative to their procedures. This identifies the responsibility of the state to employ the taxes and dues handover through the corporation in the direction of the culture improvement (Scherer 2017). Hence, the corporation should not be focused to an extra responsibility of CSR like as responsibility is not levied on an ordinary one by the civilization. Additionally, where the corporation is applying numerous possessions relative to their procedures which fit in the culture and instigating injurious to the humanity in the sense of contamination that are spending extra money also like as environment dues and reserve utilize expenses. So, the corporation contain no any responsibility to spoil in the culture improvement. Though, the narrow views of CSR is noticeably censured by the exponents of non-substantial integrity, environment groups and supporters of the broad view of CSR. To examine the morality to the interpretation the Broad view wants to be debated. In this condition the narrow view of CSR is implemented by the corporations in United Kingdom. It is for the reason that their main attention is on generating revenue rather than fulfilling the basic requirements of the civili zation. In these circumstances it is facilitated that the corporations are disregarding the difficulties tackled by the employees in India and concentrating only on producing the goods at the cheapest worth. It is for the reason that there is opposite stiff rivalry from opponents in United Kingdom to facilitate fabrics at cheap amount and the request of fabrics are knowingly also growing in the market. In this condition, it might be concluded that the activities of United Kingdom corporations are defensible as over the narrow view of CSR. Immanuel Kants Deontology Ethics in relation to the views of CSR Deontology ethics is a principled conclusion defining standard philosophy which is given by Immanuel Kant. This philosophy is a non-substantial philosophy founded on definite necessities. We concluded three of the fundamentals which are given by Kant and related to ethical creation which are General commandment, Means of split ends and moral will. Rendering to the philosophy this is the responsibility of trades to deal with people as trimmings by their selves and not it means that of attaining the termination (Shim, Chung and Kim 2017). Kant contends that if anybody senses that the activities which he/she spoils in might be accurate even if the entire universe spoils in the accomplishment than the activities would be measured as morally correct. At the illogicality where anybody will contain the facts that if he/she is spoiling in the act it will not be beneficial for the culture then the accomplishment is not ethically correct. As by the philosophy of Kant no one should be oppressed to attaining a determination. When deciding beneath deontology, morals the one must recognize who they be indebted a responsibility to, which is the responsibility and is this responsibility being achieved in an appropriate way. Significances or consequence have no permissible implication relative to the concept which identifies that conclusion should not always be founded on the consequence. If the verdict agrees to the responsibility payable it must be occupied irrespective of the consequence of the conclusion. Comparison of both views in terms of ethics Now a question arises here that how the Broad view of CSR is more ethical than narrow view of CSR. Therefore, by following the deontology philosophy, people would not be utilizing a way of termination. Additionally, the philosophy delivers that if anybody senses that the activities which he/she spoils in might be accurate even if the entire universe spoils in the accomplishment than the activities would be measured as morally correct. At the illogicality where anybody will contain the facts that if he/she is spoiling in the accomplishment will not be beneficial for the culture then the accomplishment is not ethically correct. The narrow view of CSR that corporations are shaped for generating revenue. When the integration of a corporation has been completed for the determination of generating revenue only, its main accountability is of only generating revenue rather than spoiling in any extra accountability (Paquette, Sommerfeldt and Kent 2015). Consequently, the narrow view of CSR sa ys that the corporation must keep attention on generating revenues only and do not bother about the culture. Since the denotation of the narrow view, it would be say that if each corporation spoils in activities which are completed through the British fabric trade than it will not been better for the civilization. Therefore, the narrow view of CSR is louse morally correct as associated to the broad view which suggests alleviating any fatalities which is instigated to the culture. With respect to the influence, changing aspects that is facilitated to the builders by the sellers it might be said that this is the responsibility of the sellers to guarantee that the producers behave morally while dealing the employees. In this condition, it might be said that like as the United Kingdom sellers are not guaranteeing the attention of the labors which is not behaving morally. They are consuming the labors as a means of termination rather than terminate themselves. The sellers have a responsibility to the industrial labors and further those are investors of their processes. They must guarantee that they try to make sensible the customers conscious about the condition and pursue assistance since them over their contribution. Ethical responsibility of the UK retailers and Consumers In this condition it can be collaborate that corporations in United Kingdom do not implement the broad view of CSR. It is for the reason that their main attention is on generating revenue rather than fulfilling the basic requirements of humanity. Despite having data about the labors in the Indian workshops from where labor is obtained are being focused to insensitive behavior that the UK venders are still obtaining their goods for such type of workshops. Their activities containing a momentous influence on the employees as the industry holders are producing great revenues and disregarding the basic requirements of the labors. It might be contended if the venders rest to subcontract labor form such type of industries then the condition of the labors would be focused to supplementary damage like as they will not be considered to take currency to purchase their requirements. But, this disagreement might not be the foundation by through the tactic of the sellers can be defensible as ther e are numerous replacements which are obtainable. Conclusion This paper has deliberated views relative to both narrow and broad view of CSR. It has delivered influences for and in contradiction of mutually the opinions of CSR. This paper over the debate of moral philosophy of deontology emanates to an assumption that broad view of CSR is much more moral then the narrow view of CSR. The sellers in United Kingdom are not undertaking should to backing up the labors who are focused to noteworthy damage by the builders. This is for the reason that they have implemented a narrow view of CSR that is not morally correct. Like as the sellers are not enchanting any activities in contradiction of the industry holders they are providing more influences on the industry holders to feat the labors. Recommendations The laborers must be provided with better working conditions like friendly nature of their hierarchy. The retailers must look after the needs of the workers so that they could provide them with their best work. The laborers must be given incentives for their extra hard work they have put in for their company. The retailers must have a look at the laborers medical conditions and must be provided with proper and sufficient medications. These suggestions will guide the retailers to maintain a friendly relationship with their worker. References Barnett, M.L., Henriques, I. and Husted Corregan, B., 2018. The Treatment Of The Lgbt Community Essay Example For Students
The Treatment Of The Lgbt Community Essay The treatment of the LGBT community in American Society is a social injustice. What most people think is that they just want to be able to marry one another and be happy but thatââ¬â¢s not it. They want to be treated like humans and not some weird creatures that no one has ever seen before. They want to be accepted for who them are and not what people want them to be and they deserve the right to be who they are just the same as any other human being. After all the discrimination they have endured they should be allowed to be who they are and be accepted as equals just like people of different skin color did in the times of segregation. We will write a custom essay on The Treatment Of The Lgbt Community specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We have a long way to go as a country but being the greatest country in the world in the eyes of many great America will make big steps to make things fair.dThe treatment of the LGBT community in American society is a true social injustice. LGBT, or the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, community has gone through many hardships whether itââ¬â¢s been being harassed, denied service, denied marriage, been fired and denied from jobs because of their sexual orientation, or even been killed. Americans all know that gays are discriminated upon but do they know how they are being discriminated? We have all witnessed gay people being harassed, whether itââ¬â¢s a gay kid getting made fun for liking another guy or even calling a not gay person person gay as an insult. Itââ¬â¢s become so normal to hear someone say ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s so gayâ⬠but when you think about it, itââ¬â¢s basically the equivalent of saying ââ¬Å"Thatââ¬â¢s so Black/Asian/Mexicanâ⬠in the sense of using someone orientation or race as a replacement for bad or stupid. Back in the day we made it so that you canââ¬â¢t deny service to someone because they were dif. .eââ¬â¢s eyes to the dangers of the world around them and start making changes to make this world better. Solutions like legalizing gay marriage is good and all but what America needs is a total overhaul on how we view gays, and not view them as gays, but to view them as human beings like us. Not try to change them for who they are but to accept them as who they are and treat them with respect. The LGBT community doesnââ¬â¢t just want legal marriage, they want to fit in and be accepted into the mainstream world as humans and not just the gays in the same way black people want to be equal with white people or deaf people wanting to be accepted just as much as someone who can hear. Saying being gay is a crime is basically saying being blind is a crime. People use the excuse that ââ¬Å"itââ¬â¢s against their religionâ⬠but so are tattoos and divorce but we donââ¬â¢t see you protesting that.

Try to improve the existing programs or add new ones. * Concentrate on the traffic in peak hours and implement the Divide and conquer strategy by providing more programs during the peak hours. * How many hours the club is open on weekdays and weekends. Relax the restriction of time constraint by providing extended hours. * How strong the relationship is between the staff and the parents. * Provide online survey to the members. This collects feedback from the kids as well as the parents, which can be channelized to improve the club performance. The survey should be a simple Yes/No 10 questions with a comments section. The survey can be distributed to the email list. The management Strategy will change depending on the activities and workers. The more activities and workers, the more the structure needs to be managed1. Data on Programs of a Similar Nature We need to also add some Capital campaign examples. Capital Campaign is what pays for the building Website Sponsorship Program: This program displays the advertisement for the sponsor website with a membership cost per year. The advertisement also provides direct link to the sponsor website. Cars for Kids Program: This program accepts donation of the vehicles. The vehicles are transported free of charge. The proceeds are utilized for the youth programs. The club will provide receipt, which can be used for tax deduction. Resource Availability and Allocation The club is overseen by a group of concerned community leaders from all walks of life. Lawyers, accountants, architects, insurance agents, bankers, parents of members and other professionals make up this group3. Brainstorm the ideas for fundraising within the volunteers and the staff. This brings out many new ideas that can implement with ease, since the ideas originated from them instead of being forced with an idea. The professional maintenance like website management and money management can be allocated to paid employees. Other tasks related with building design, contractor maintenance, fund raising for the building, material management can be allocated to volunteers who has experience in the related fields. III.2. External Situation Markets Kids Programs Demographics Age group for the programs Town of Billerica and surrounding areas. Competitors * YMCA in Woburn, Lowell Reading YMCA has good reputation and brand name, which attracts members. YMCA has high reliability, which leads to more funding turnovers. * Other Boys Girls clubs in nearby towns like Reading, Lowell. * Private gyms: Golds GYM, Bally Total Fitness, Fitcorp Getronics Fitness Center, Nautilus Plus, Best Fitness, The Club Fitness Health Sport Inc. The private gyms collect expensive fees from the members and hence they have more money to spend for marketing. They also host high standard websites maintained by professional resources. Technological Infrastructure The Website Grader service provided by HubSpot graded the website for Boys and Girls Club of Billerica as 19/1004. The grading depends on various parameters including search engine data, website structure, site performance and traffic. The Search Engine Optimization for the website presents these potential problems existing in the Clubs website: * Very few metadata keywords present in the website available for search engines. * No headings found. This prevents the signal to the search engines, what the website is about. * Most of the images in the Clubs website do not have the alt attribute. The Alt attribute provides the alternative content for images, which can be used by the search engine crawlers. * Interior page analysis provided the same keyword and description for 3 different pages within the main page. * The readability level is Secondary/High School, which is good in perspective of the members. But the readability level should be in much higher level in order to impress all level of target audience. * The time of expiration for the domain of the Clubs website is set to expire in 7 months. In general the search engines penalize the website with domains which are set to expire soon. * Permanent redirect for the website is missing, which reduces the credit from the search engines. * Google Page rank is 3, Google indexed page is 56, Traffic rank is not rated, Inbound links to the website is very less, and the website is not listed in major online directories. * RSS feed is not found. Poor quality website will lead to serious drawbacks to the Clubs growth. The members visiting the website will not take the clubs mission serious if the website doesnt appeal to them. The Clubs website is definitely in need of content management system. Redundant use of the logos, images and information across the pages should be reduced. Content Management System also provides a single access point for the standard templates, newsletters etc. Vinay do u have any feedback on Content management system for this website? Value Chain The Boys and Girls Club is a Non-profit Organization run by few staff and volunteers. This leads to unorganized programs and inconsistent online marketing plans. The club can be focused to function within the value based framework by making it more entrepreneurial in how it manages social programs, recognizing and measuring social value in the delivery of services and products, using logic models for assessment and measurement, and making the connection between emotional intelligence and effective leadership5. These are the external factors, which affect the value chain for any Non Profit Organization, and they apply to the Boys and Girls Club of Billerica: Reference: exinfm.com/training/pdfiles/course15.pdf The strategic planning for the Internet marketing is portrayed in the following logic model: The strategic plan for the online marketing should have a well-defined mission, an outline for the goals, objectives and activities, assessment of current resources and a strategic analysis. The club should set its mission of increasing the funds inflow through online marketing, increase number of volunteers to work on the marketing objective. III.3. SWOT Analysis: Strengths: * The club has nationwide network, which proves its brand name popularity. * The club serves as a secure place for the kids to spend after school hours. * The club serves as a second home for the kids. * Inexpensive fee structure provides opportunities to the low to mid income people. * Community based, which makes kids and their parents more connected to the community. * The technical infrastructure already exists, which maintains the clubs website. * The location is accessible by public transportation, and pick up service is available from the Billerica public schools which makes it convenient for kids and low income families. * Local business support the club to improves the community. * Good relationship between parents and staff members, which improves the quality of service. * The club attracts members with special events like Elementary School Dance, Movie Night and Family Swim Night. * Board members are diverse in age, gender, religion, occupation, skills and background. * Board members share passion and have strong ties to the community. * Good relationship with the administration in the target schools. Weakness: * Board Members dont attend the meetings on a regular basis. Some of them dont contribute either money or time. * Outdated website design with poor navigation between the pages. * Fundraising is very critical. * Fewer programs offered to the kids in peak hours. * Historically challenged in identifying grants from government organizations and local and corporate businesses * Deficit of experienced people resource allocated for marketing. * Inadequate online and offline communication with parents. * Data captured through online database is not being effectively utilized to improve volunteering and philanthropic performance. Opportunities: * Availability of long-term grants provided by large corporations and Universities. * Teenage kids have afterschool hours which need to be utilized in a useful and secured place like the Boys and Girls Club. * Build a relationship with local school districts to introduce innovative programs to help teenagers in the community. * Volunteers from the local community who get personal involvement in improving the club. * A large talent pool of qualified software professionals who can be signed up to volunteer with building a new website and email distribution program. Threats: * Fundraising is becoming increasingly difficult in the current economic climate. * The private gyms and YMCA in the town offer more activities and choices to the kids and parents combined. * Bad reputation created by improperly trained staff. * Higher risk of personal injury claims. * Resistance from parents and families. * Competition from other non-profit organizations. The Boys and Girls club should focus on its weakness and threats to decrease them and concentrate on its opportunities available and utilize them to improve the Marketing Strategy. IV. Marketing Problems and Opportunities Problems related with volunteer programs: * The volunteer program plan for any marketing idea is not consistent. * The volunteers need to be screened before they are in charge for sensitive data or given any responsibility. A simple background check and reference from others will add to the reliability of the person. * Volunteers need to be supervised for a particular period, so that * Training should be provided to the volunteers until they get accustomed to the program. This requires additional resource. Marketing Opportunities: * Search Engine Optimization The technique used to make the website attractive to the search engines6. This includes: adding keywords in the websites title or in link, link popularity based on how many sites linked to the Clubs website, developing content that others want to link to which is called link-baiting, get listed in the online directories. * Attract the offline members to clubs website through FAQ section and support questions. * Banner advertisements are available free of cost which increases click through traffic. * Simple bookmark reminder pop-up window will request visitors to bookmark the website. * Promote volunteer programs for high school kids. This can be added to their community volunteer hours for their school curriculum. The club provides certificates for their volunteer service. * Select board members who currently work in media like newspaper, television or radio. This helps to market the new campaign launched in the club. * Advertise the benefit for the donors when they donate like Tax deduction in bold. This attracts large corporations and wealthy donors. * Local business which is willing to advertise in the Clubs website. * Whenever the club related members interact with outside people, they should encourage them to visit the clubs website. * Offline marketing is to include the website address in all the club related material and communication like brochures, business cards, letterhead, T-Shirts, Coffee cups, press releases, event announcements and invitations.

Social Issues Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
Social Issues - Assignment Example Introduction One of the key arguments of the civil rights together with Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LBGT) movements have for long advocated is the fact that the state has no rights in determining or getting itself involved in what happens between two consenting adults in the privacy of their bedroom (Querbes, 2004). In these two cases, first in Georgia and then in Texas, police officers came into the citizenââ¬â¢s home and found him and his partner engaging in the act of consensual sodomy, which was outlawed in these states. In the first case, even after the Georgia Court and the Court of Appeal had ruled in favor of the respondent, the Supreme Court overturned the decision and ruled that sodomy was not a fundamental right. In the second case, the Supreme Court basically ruled that they had no right to interfere with what happened in the confines of the bedrooms of consenting adults (Querbes, 2004). 1 There were numerous societal factors that led the US Supreme Court to abandon the rule of stare decisis. The stare decisis is a principle that basically holds that judges usually allow previously made decisions to stand. In the case of Lawrence v. Texas the Supreme Court saw need to completely rule in the opposite of the judgment in Bowers v. Hardwick due mainly to the changes in attitudes, perceptions and views on homosexuality in the country (Harms, 2011). In 1986 when the initial Bowers v. Hardwick decision was made the country had just come out of the rather ââ¬Å"freewheelingâ⬠permissive society of the 1960s and 1970s and a decidedly conservative candor was more the norm (Hanon, 1999). It was therefore no wonder that more than half the states still had rules in place that outlawed sodomy which was viewed as one of the practices that many felt made homosexuality abhorrent. The American society then was much much stronger in intolerance with the homosexual lifestyle (Harms, 2011). For the court also by the time the second (Lawrence v. Texas) decision was taken there had been quite a change in the Supreme Court with nearly half (four out of nine) judges having either retired or died and been replaced, giving the Supreme Court a totally new outlook which made it easier for them to make such a radical change in decision. The majority in the Bowers v. The Hardwick decision was only 5-4 and one of the judges in the majority later changed his opinion and said he would have voted differently had he thought the matter was as important as it turned out to be (Harms, 2011). Historically mainstream United States Culture has always condemned homosexuality and any other type of ââ¬Å"deviantâ⬠sexual practices hence the enactment of anti-sodomy laws in many US states up to the eighties. Gay men and women were seen and depicted as degenerates and sexual criminals and they, their practices, views and lifestyles by the medical profession, government and the mass media. In the early 1980s, the Bowers v. Hardwick was therefore not an unpopular or an unusual decision at the time that it was made. 2 At the time of the Bowers v. A Hardwick case in 1986, the American publicââ¬â¢s attitude toward homosexuality was very conservative. In fact as late as 1988, only

Why Psychologist use the scientific method Essay Example for Free
Why Psychologist use the scientific method Essay The scientific method makes use of a wide range of approaches and is a perspective that is seen better as an overall rather than use of single specific method. The already adopted scientific method initially was founded on the positivism concept. This included the search for descriptive general laws, which natural phenomena could be predicted with. Scientists were able to control the phenomena occurrences once there was possibility of the predictions. Subsequently, the underlying theories and explanations were developed by the scientists. Despite the change that has occurred on the positivist approach, the redefinition of the philosophical science is underway. The basement premises on which it was founded still continue to be on the current research mainstream. One of the major scientific approach requisite is the falsifiability. A theory is termed as been scientific if in its contents are predictions, which can either be falsely or truly demonstrated. Critically, scientific method has been argued to depend on empiricism, that is, data and observation collection (Mayer, 1985, pp. 42) Hypothetical inductive method is commonly involved in the main scientific method. In this, a scientist will begin with a based hypothesis on theory or insight and observation. A hypothesis is said to be statement of tentative belief that is based on judgment of expert researcher. The hypothesis should be subjected to falsification. This is to mean that the scientific researcher must be set up in a way such that the he/she has the ability to make logical conclusion that the hypothesis is either true or false. In many cases, projects of research may give the scientist a room to reject or accept the hypothesis and this will take one for more questions on research (Barker, 2000, pp. 82). Psychologist on their case have developed the interest and employed scientific method in all their researches. They have actually made the use of various scientific steps or approaches. The steps that psychologist use in their research are: identification of the problem and the hypothesis formulation, designing of the experiment under the help of the independent and dependent variables, experimental performance by use of the control group and the experimental group, hypothesis evaluation, that is, replication of data and hypothesis correction, and lastly is the communication of the results. If a researcher effectively follows the above steps, his or her experimental results will be reliable and valid. Some details in relation to the above stated steps are discussed below. In the process of identifying the problem, the psychologist must be having a good idea of the identified problem. He must also be in a position to make intelligent guesses concerning the problem, that is, come up with hypothesis. The problem at hand should imply a theory under which it can be based on the manner that the resulting solution to the problem can rhyme with the existing theories (Nagel Mill, 1996, pp. 2). Some of the scientific methods employed by psychologists include the following. Firstly, are the controlled experiments in performance of the experiments. In this method, it allows the researcher to establish the relationship between the cause and the effects. The experimenter in this method must manipulate one of the variables as the other variable is measured. The variable that is manipulated in this method is known as the independent variable, while the variable being measured is the dependent variable. The extraneous variable helps in manipulation by minimizing it as opposed to other kind of factors. For the true experiment, there is usually the experimental group and the control group. The experimental groups get the treatment that is designed for the study while the control group to the experimental group is identically treated with exceptional treatment of the experiment. By random assignment subjects are therefore assigned to each experimental group. The second method is the correlation method. This one exposes the relations that are predictable among given variables which are not within the experimenterââ¬â¢s control. The direction and the strength of the two variable relationship is referred to as correlation coefficients. In this method, it is important to note the correlation does not imply causation. Thirdly are the case studies. This method looks deeply on to a single individual study. Fourthly is the archival approach. They usually make the use records of novel, existing information and documents. Additionally, it may involve the use naturalistic observation. Under this method near natural or natural conditions are used to explore the population (Mayer, 1985, pp. 47). Elsewhere, the experimental process may involve the case histories method. This method describes the unusual conditions or person under study. The last method is the use of questionnaires and surveys about attitudes and opinions. Under survey, the attitude and opinions are based on response of the person on predetermined specific questions. Adequate and carefully determined sample on which the questions are based must be used (Peterson Tremblay, 1999, pp. 23). Due to the fact that scientific method works with the research approach rather than the research content, disciplines are not termed as scientific due to their content but because of their observation and data dependency, ideas of their falsifiability and the testing of the hypothesis. Therefore, scientific research legally involves the study of the intelligence, attitudes and other human behaviors which are complex. Despite the fact that the tools psychologists uses to measure the behavior of human may not give similar degree of precision like the one given by other sciences, it may not be precise to establish the scientific discipline status but rather the mechanism by which ideas will be tested and generated (Wolfe, 1992, pp. 206). When a researcher repeats the work that was done by another researcher, this may lead the research to be replicated, that is, the researchers must get the same results of a similar research done by the other researchers. This is a quality of scientific research that must exist. In reporting on their findings of the research, psychologist tries to give explanations and descriptions concerning how their discoveries have been made. On a similar note, other psychological researchers who carry out the same study must replicate on the previous results got by the other psychological researcher. After a research is done and replication is observed, psychologists will come up with a theory and translate it into hypothesis that is precise (Peterson Tremblay, 1999, pp. 9). When conducting a research, psychologists usually use operational definitions to assists in definition of concepts which are of interest. The term sampling is often used to describe the process of coming up with few number of the subjects of study out of the big population. The sampling procedures are used because it is not possible or practicable in the whole population to study all the subjects. There are different kinds of the samples that psychologists might use in relation to the kind of the study they are carrying out. These include: representative sample, convenience sample, random sample, and cross culture sample. The cross culture sample is used to have the external validity improved. One major drawback in the use of sampling method by the psychologist is that it tends to be biased at times. The psychologist researcher may lead to what we call experimenter bias when making the use of sampling procedures. The experimenter bias will result in the case where the researcher distorts the results or the procedures of experiment in study in which relation to the outcomes are known. Blinding procedures conceals the experimental hypothesis when used from the subject and this in most cases is referred to as single blind, while from the experiment and the subject are referred to as double blind (Wolfe, 1992, pp. 187). In their data analysis, psychologist normally uses the following measures to analyze their data. Firstly, the descriptive statistics are the mathematical summaries of the research results. Under descriptive statistics, measures of the central tendencies for a normal distribution are employed. These measures include the mean, median and the mode. Secondly are the measures of variation. This one determines the variation of the scores around the measures of the central tendencies. The measures of variations include the standard deviation and the range. Thirdly is the inferential statistics. This comes up with a statement about a set of given scores (Porterfield, 1999, pp. 82). The use of scientific method by the psychologists has been of great help to the world of business today. The application of research methodology to the world of commerce, business and organisations functions, organisational and industrial psychology looks on various degrees of the customers, workforce, and consumer. This will involve issues such as psychology of training, recruitment, job satisfaction, appraisal, stress management at work. All these factors assist in improving the performance and productivity of the business or the organisation. Psychological skills are employed to select the best qualified candidate during the interview process. This is of great help to the business since the selected candidate will effectively and efficiently deliver the organisational goals and objectives since he or she has the necessary and the required ability. For the new recruited staffs, they must undergo some training in relation to the expected duties and responsibility they have to accomplish in the organisation. They must be prepared psychologically how they should approach some of the duties and responsibilities at workplace and also how they can use such skills to meet the customersââ¬â¢ satisfaction. Psychological skills are also of benefit to any organisation in its application to manage stress that may have affected one of the staff members. In any organisation, stress is an expected situation and if not well handled may mess up the business activities, leading to poor performance. For this reason, organisations have gone ahead and employed psychologists who can effectively handle the matter. Psychologists have also worked on interaction with machines, product designs, software, sales, marketing, and advertisements so as to help in safety, functionality and appeal of the organisation. During the training of the staffs of an organization especially in the department of the sales and the marketing, this really require good impacting of the psychological skills to the staff in this department. For one to convince consumers to consume products of a given organisation, high level of psychological skills is required. It is in the same department or field where to understand the consumer needs psychological skills which have resulted to the employment of scientific method of research in collecting adequate data about the market and functional parameters of the organisation. By the use of such skills, one will be able to know which product needs to be improved or which has lost it market value. Doing all these help to expand and maintain the market share of the organisation (Wolfe, 1992, pp. 204).

The American with Disabilities Act Essay -- American Government, ADA A
As stated by the founding fathers of America ââ¬Å"All men are created equal.â⬠Black, white, brown, short, tall, smart, and dumb, all are created equally. Therefore every person deserves fair judgement. Unfortunately, it is a profound fact that not everyone is born normal and capable of task typical for a common person, who is free from disability. In my opinion, the quote ââ¬Å"All men are created equalâ⬠serves to promote a friendly environment that helps encourage equality among people and aids to recognize the similarities rather than the differences that separates men. Even so, with this hope, the disabled community still struggles for equality. According to Legal Rights by the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), ââ¬Å"Almost 10 percent of all American have some kind of hearing loss. These ten percent suffer from unfair treatment from professional, social and government service providers, including court and policeâ⬠(NAD 1). Obviously, because deaf and h ard of hearing have limited hearing, their communication and social skills are below the expectation of a common hearing person. Thus, most of these people are ignored, neglected, and discriminated against. However, as a citizen protected by the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), deaf and hard of hearing individuals deserve equal rights and must be accommodated for as a disabled person. If everyone is entitled to all the rights and freedom that is set forth in the Declaration, disabled people should not be robbed of their rights. However, they are still devalued from conducting common tasks which puts them at the bottom of the priority list as an employee and even so as a friend. In search to solve this problem, according to ââ¬Å"The Disabledâ⬠by Bender, D. on July 26, 1990, President G... ...er on Deaf Child Acceptedâ⬠from the New York Times by Greenhouse, Linda on November 3, 1981. Supreme Court agreed to provide a sign language interpreter for deaf third grader. The appeals was based on the Education for All Handicapped Children Act. Apparently, Amy Rowley a deaf student who was adept at lip reading and received help from her hearing aid was performing above average from her class without special help. However, the court ruled ââ¬Å"she was entitled to be able to understand everything said in the classroom, a goal that could be achieved only through sign languageâ⬠(Greenhouse 2). Even though Amy Rowley in the top half of her class the court recognized that she is still being denied of her rights. Therefore, the court ruled in her favor to accommodate her for education. With the accommodation she will be given an opportunity to achieve her full potential.

The effects of the Blitz on everyday life in Britain
Although the Blitz did affect military production and industry slightly, it mainly affected the way of life of the people of Britain, testing their resolve, perseverance, and overall morale. The civilians were on the front line, and had to adapt their lives accordingly. London was perhaps the most harshly affected. The first priority was to prevent bombing altogether. A curfew was placed, noone was allowed out after dark incase they were spotted by bombers and targetted. This may have affected the livleyhoods of many londoners, who would have to look for other work, although this was perhaps the least drastic of measures taken to avoid bombing. A blackout was issued, no lights were to be visible at night. Shops, homes, trains, and cars were all included in this. This would be done by boarding up windows, dulling reflective surfaces, or just turning the lights out. This was designed to prevent enemy aircraft from navigating attacks purely on sight and forced them to use different methods, causing difficulty. Although, with vehicles, it caused many road accidents. If bombing could not be prevented then the next priority was to minimise casualties. It was paramount that civilians had access to a safe place to protect themselves from attack. Anderson shelters were distributed to many homes in Britain, allowing civilians easy access to protection. Although people were urged to sleep in these at night, they were cold and uncomfortable and sometimes flooded, so people took their chances under the stairs or even in their beds. These werent the only sources of shelter. Brick shelters were set up which would house many people, though these did not provide much protection from bombs and were easily destroyed. Civilians also used bridges and arches to protect them selves from attack aswell as the underground tube and train tunnels. Civilians were ordered to carry gas masks, incase the germans dropped gas that could get into the shelters. To make sure all air raid precautions were set up and executed properly, 500,000 ARP (Air Raid Precaution) wardens, were employed. These were the people whose responsibility it was to alert the public of air raids and make sure that civilians were sheltered. They also looked over the precautions to air raids, such as inspecting blackout precautions and shelters to make sure they are adequate. Morale was one of England's most important defenses against the German campaign and keeping morale up meant moving the vunerable from places that are likely to be bombed to safety. The answer was evacuation. The country was divided into three zones. ââ¬Å"Evacuationâ⬠, these were the places that were likely to be heavily bombed and required evacuation. ââ¬Å"Neutralâ⬠, these were the places that were unlikely to be bombed, but still had a sizeable population with a chance of being attacked. These were not required to receive or evacuate. ââ¬Å"Receptionâ⬠, these were the more rural areas with a less dense population and were the least likely to be bombed. These were the places that evacuees would be taken. London was perhaps the most severe ââ¬Å"evacuationâ⬠zone. The children of London, sometimes even mothers and the disabled, were put on trains and sent into areas comparitively safe from bombing. Using this program, space for 4. 8 million people was found, and camps set up to accommodate a few more thousand, and some even evactuated abroad, to other European countries and even America. Those evacuated stayed with families in rural areas, and those who were evacuated at a young age spent the most influential years of their life in evactuation, becoming very attached to their carers. Although all of these precautions had been taken. , bombs still fell, damaging buildings, and however much avoidance was placed, people died. Quick response was required to salvage as much as could be from the damaged parts of London. Many people were drafted into the auxilary fire service, treating the flames caused by incendiary bombs. Other people were trained as medical staff and nurses, who treated the bombing casualties. Those who did not do these were able to help in the form of volunteer work, moving rubble and removing casualties from ruined buildings. Some even worked in catering, providing food and drink for those who had lost their homes. The actual effect of the bombs was massive. People, who had lost their homes to the bombs were left to find a safe place for themselves. People often took shelter in the tube and train stations. These had cramped conditions and were cold with little or no sanitation. Some people even turned to looting, taking any valubles they could find from the wreckages of houses so they could get money for food or shelter. Altogether, the points I have raised prove that the Blitz had an adverse effect on the lives of the people of Britain. People had to live in extremely harsh conditions, eat little, deal with death or the loss of their childeren to evacuation. Others had to deal with uncontrollable fires and casualty counts, while some just dealt with the constant fear of being attacked. All this was to be done while keeping up morale, which truly shows how well the British adapted and persevered, not caving in to the German's demoralisation tactics.

How To Write Faster, Even If You Procrastinate - CoSchedule
How To Write Faster, Even If You Procrastinate My friend has a T-shirt that has a logo from the University of Procrastination, which proudly claims to train tomorrows leaderstomorrow.à Or maybe the day after. Procrastination seems like such an ideal solution for creating a better today. Of course, that means the next day is rushed, stressful, and panic-ridden, so its not that great of a solution.à Not every writer is a procrastinator, though. Some are very orderly and regimented. Some are super-focused on being productive.à Whichever kind of writer you might be, you all have something in common: youd like to be able to write faster. Get more writing done, in less time.à Youd like to have a system for writing blog posts that works every time. And youd like to fine tune your editing procedures so you get a great post, from start to finish, in as little time as possible. The Procrastinators Guide To Getting More Writing Done In Less Time #ContentMarketingTheres a way to do it, no matter whether your style is to put off until tomorrow or to drown in to-do lists. Its just a matter of you finding a tailor-made solution to your style of working. How Procrastinating Writers Should Work Just today I finally checked an item off of my highly vague To Do Eventually list, an item I had put on the list more than a year ago. I tried to make myself feel less guilty by titling the list with eventually butà really.à A year. It took me a year to do it. That stupid task had been nibbling at my conscience, as writerà James Surowiecki aptly put it. Lets get one thing clear: procrastination isnt bad. We assume it is, because it puts us in a high-stress rushed state when its finally time to pay the piper for deadline projects;à but procrastination is merely another working style, and not merely an example of a bad working style. Lets get one thing clear: procrastination isnt bad. Guilt-ridden procrastinators (of which I am one, and terribly) spend much of the time they arent doing their work reading about how to stop procrastinating. They look for methods to be more productive, to be the early bird that gets things done in a flash and cant stop checking things off of the list. They buy books, organizers, and apps. And still procrastinate. And are frustrated. There are two ways to approach your procrastination: fight it or work with it. Working with your procrastination. In a broad sense, procrastination has a funny way of getting our priorities straight. Look at your to-do lists. How many of them did you start with specific tasks that had specific dates until, in your eagerness, things got a little out of hand and soon you had a massive list of things you ought to do and should do and might do? Procrastination has a way of helping us not get caught up in what we subconsciously determine is unimportant. Procrastination allows perfectionists to get things done by forcing them to do adequate work under self-induced deadline pressure when they otherwise would be unable to do any work. Procrastination can keep us from fixating on things that are unimportant. In that sense, it is good procrastination. It keeps us from sweating the small stuff. The unimportant things eventually disappear if you never do them. As long as your procrastination has you meeting deadlines and getting the big stuff done, its helping you out. My solution is to use triage rubrics in different areas of life, and to hold my to-do list up against the rubric. For example, in my personal life, family always trumps work. In my work life, client deadlines before tweaking my own website. This is an over-simplification, but I know that if I have these ingrained, I dont fret about the things I procrastinated on that fall into the category of unimportant. Create your own rubric. Start at the top with the thing that will get you into serious trouble if it isnt finished and go back from there. Train your mind to understand what is important. You should work with your procrastination instead of fighting it if: You make to-do lists that are massive and full of unimportant tasks. You have not missed deadlines. You are getting important things done. Fighting your procrastination. Of course, there are times when procrastination is a bad idea, such as putting off paying your taxes and ending up with a penalty because of it. If youre missing deadlines or feeling high levels of stress because everything feels last minute, thats bad procrastination. These undone things dont disappear, they get worse. For writers, bad procrastination means you dont have time to proof and edit properly. You have to constantly deal with reminders and demands of clients wonder why your work isnt submitted. Your work and reputation suffers. This is where theà Zeigarnik effectà comes into play. Bluma Zeigarnik was a psychologist from Lithuania who noticed that restaurant servers could remember large amounts of information (without writing it down) for a limited period of time. Once the food was delivered to the table, servers forgot it all entirely. Through studies Zeigarnik learned that we remember interrupted tasks better than non-interrupted tasks. For procrastinators, this is good news. Once we start a task, we gain focus. This is helped if we arent interrupted. The Zeigarnik effect reveals that starting anywhere on the task is the path to getting it done, even if its with an easy part.à When we allow distractions and interruptions, that unfinished saved-for-later task nags at us relentlessly until we finish it. Start small. If you are procrastinating on writing a post, start with a small thing first. Begin collecting reference links and doing research. Brainstorm ideas. Try free writing techniques just to get text on the screen. Go where you wont be interrupted. Think of the restaurant server. You cant bring the food to the table until youve taken the order and delivered the beverages. Start easy.If getting started is proving impossible, try theà Pomodoro technique. Break up your work into 25-minute timed segments with a five-minute break in between. After four work periods, take a 20 minute break. Once you get in that writing zone skip the breaks and go with it. This way, you know at the start you get breaks and you can ease into the project. How List-Orientedà Writers Should Work A great chef or line cook knows whatà mise-en-placeà is. It means that before you even begin cooking, you have your station ordered with everything where it belongs. This way, when the rush begins, you are not scrambling for tools and ingredients. As a pastry chef, before I started actually making a recipe, I always got the tools and ingredients together first. It kept me from wasting precious time in a busy day, and it also kept me from starting something and discovering we were out of eggs halfway through. Writer Ron Friedman describes the concept aptly: the single most important ingredient of any dish is planning. This concept appeals to writers who like to make lists. To-do lists, idea lists, project lists, supply lists, editorial calendar liststhese are the people who want things in order. These are the people who are constantly planning. Friedman applies mise-en-place to any kind of work, asking a great question: what is the first thing you do when you start work? Do you check your email? Your Twitter feed? Your analytics from yesterdays blog post? Your voice mail?à These are activities that, according to Friedman, put you into a reactive mode. They make us lose our focus, and let other peoples priorities take center stage, Friedman said. They are the equivalent of entering a kitchen and looking for a spill to clean or a pot to scrub. Begin your day with a brief planning session. An intellectual mise-en-place. Ron Friedman Youre not in a good place to write after youve started with these activities, but instead youre in that no-win zone of reacting and catching up. The truth is, the emails never stop rolling in, the tweets dont stop chirping, and yesterdays analytics can be analyzed later. And people who make lists are prone to starting the day reactively. Or, I should say, people who make lists without hierarchy are prone to starting the day reactively.à Your lists of things to do will hamper you if you do not structure them with the idea of mise-en-place. How do you make a list that works? 1. Small tasks, action words. David Allen, of the well-known Get Things Done system, suggests that you break downà your tasks on your to-do lists, and start the smaller components with action verbs. Instead of: Blog post due try Write 15 headlines. Find 5 outside resources. Write introduction. Outline blog structure. Write first draft. Blog post due isnt mise-en-place. Its we have knives somewhere in the kitchen. Its vague. It tells you a deadline, and not what to do. 2. Prioritize your tasks. Your willpower is at its greatest in the morning. This means that you shouldà prioritize the things you have to do (not react to) by scheduling them first, in the morning. Leave the easier, less mentally challenging tasks for later. You can answer emails in the afternoon, when your mind is slowing down a bit, but youd better use that morning mental acuity for writing your content.

More You Should Know about Hercules
More You Should Know about Hercules What You Should Know About Hercules | More You Should Know About Hercules | 12 Labors Hercules (Greek: Heracles/Herakles) Basics: Hercules was Apollo and Dionysus half-brother through their father Zeus. Disguised as Amphitryon, Zeus paid a conjugal visit to Amphitryons wife, Hercules mother, the Mycenaean princess Alcmene. Hercules and his twin, mortal, half-brother Iphicles, son of Alcmene and the real Amphitryon, were in their cradle when a pair of snakes visited them. Hercules happily strangled the snakes, possibly sent by Hera or Amphitryon. This inaugurated an extraordinary career that included the well-known 12 labors Hercules performed for his cousin Eurystheus. Here are more of Hercules feats with which you should be familiar. Education Hercules was talented in many areas. Castor of the Dioscuri taught him to fence, Autolycus taught him to wrestle, King Eurytus of Oechalia in Thessaly taught him archery, and Orpheus brother Linus, son of Apollo or Urania, taught him to play the lyre. [Apollodorus.] Cadmus is usually attributed with introducing letters into Greece, but Linus taught Hercules, and the not very academically inclined Hercules broke a chair over Linus head and killed him. Elsewhere, Cadmus is credited with killing Linus for the honor of introducing writing to Greece. [Source: Kerenyi, Heroes of the Greeks] Hercules and the Daughters of Thespius King Thespius had 50 daughters and wanted Hercules to impregnate them all. Hercules, who went hunting with King Thespius each day, was unaware that each nights woman was different (although he may not have cared), and so he impregnated 49 or 50 of them. The women gave birth to 51 sons who are said to have colonized Sardinia. Hercules and the Minyans or How He Acquired His First Wife The Minyans were exacting a heavy tribute from Thebes the usually cited birthplace of the hero while it was ruled by King Creon. Hercules encountered the Minyan ambassadors en route to Thebes and cut off their ears and noses, made them wear their bits as necklaces, and sent them back home. The Minyans sent retaliatory a military force, but Hercules defeated it and freed Thebes from the tribute. Creon rewarded him with his daughter, Megara, for his wife. The Augean Stables Reprised, With Dishonor King Augeas had refused to pay Hercules for cleaning his stables during the 12 Labors, so Hercules led a force against Augeas and his twin nephews. Hercules contracted a disease and asked for a truce, but the twins knew it was too good an opportunity to miss. They continued to try to annihilate Hercules forces. When the Isthmian Games were about to begin, the twins set out for them, but by this time, Hercules was on the mend. After dishonorably attacking and killing them, Hercules went to Elis where he installed Augeas son, Phyleus, on the throne in place of his treacherous father. More Hercules Dishonor Madness Euripides tragedy Hercules Furens is one of the sources for the madness of Hercules. The story, like most of those involving Hercules, has confusing and contradictory details, but in essence, Hercules, returning from the Underworld in some confusion, mistook his own sons, ones he had with Creons daughter Megara, for those of Eurystheus. Hercules killed them and would have continued his murderous rampage had Athena not lifted the (Hera-sent) madness or ate. Many consider the 12 Labors Hercules performed for Eurystheus his atonement. Hercules may have married Megara to his nephew Iolaus before leaving Thebes forever. Hercules Fight With Apollo Iphitus was the son of Apollos grandson Eurytus, who was the father of the beautiful Iole. In Book 21 of the Odyssey, Odysseus obtains the bow of Apollo when he helps in the hunt for Eurytus mares. Another part of the story is that when Iphitus came to Hercules looking for the missing dozen mares, Hercules welcomed him as a guest, but then hurled him to his death from a tower. This was another dishonorable murder for which Hercules needed to atone. The provocation may have been that Eurytus denied him the prize of his daughter, Iole, that Hercules had won in a bow-shooting contest. Possibly in search of atonement, Hercules arrived at the sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi, where as a murderer he was denied sanctuary. Hercules took the opportunity to steal the tripod and cauldron of Apollos priestess. Apollo came after him and was joined by his sister, Artemis. On Hercules side, Athena joined the fight. It took Zeus and his thunderbolts to put an end to the fighting, but Hercules still hadnt made atonement for his act of murder. Apollo, Asclepius, and Admetus On a related note, Apollo and Hercules both confronted Laomedon, an early king of Troy who refused to pay either Apollo or Hercules. Hercules and Omphale For atonement, Hercules was to endure a similar term to the one Apollo had served with Admetus. Hermes sold Hercules as a slave to the Lydian queen Omphale. In addition to getting her pregnant and tales of transvestism, the story of the Cercopes and the Black-bottomed Hercules comes from this period. Omphale (or Hermes) also set Hercules to work for a treacherous robber named Syleus. With wanton vandalism, Hercules demolished the thiefs property, killed him, and married his daughter, Xenodike. Hercules Last Mortal Wife Deianeira The final phase of Hercules mortal life involves his wife Deianeira, daughter of Dionysus (or King Oineus) and Althaia. Exchange and the Maiden When Hercules was taking his bride home, the centaur Nessus was to ferry her across the Euenos River. The details are varied, but Hercules shot Nessus with poisoned arrows when he heard the screaming of his bride being ravaged by the centaur. The centaur persuaded Deianeira to fill her water jug with blood from his wound, assuring her it would be a potent love potion when next Hercules eye started to wander. Instead of being a love potion, it was a potent poison. When Deianeira thought Hercules was losing interest, preferring Iole to herself, she sent him a robe drenched in the centaurs blood. As soon as Hercules put it on his skin burned intolerably. Poisoned Clothing Hercules wanted to dieà but was having trouble finding someone to set his funeral pyre alight so he could self-immolate. Finally, Philoctetes or his father agreed and received Hercules bow and arrows as a thanks offering. These turned out to be essential weapons required by the Greeks to win the Trojan War. As Hercules burned, he was taken to the gods and goddesses where he gained full immortality and Heras daughter Hebe for his final wife. Design Management Research Report Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Design Management Research Report - Essay Example Mostly we focused on qualitative and quantitative research on our client company, and conducted competitor analysis to get a better understanding of the client company and the industry. Furthermore, we adopted Psychographic research about the companyââ¬â¢s value, color theory, and competitor analysis to get insight into the problems of current companyââ¬â¢s logo and strategies. In addition, we carried out case studies to find out how other companies successfully approached similar projects and how they obtained the best results. Project overview- According to the 2010 annual report of Invest Toronto, the logo is ââ¬Å"The fresh, modern and energetic branding that will serve and invest as well as the story teller for our vibrant city.â⬠However, we found that the logo has heavily focused on visualizing the city of the company rather than express the companyââ¬â¢s values or objectives. A logo for a brand represents and distinguishes itself from others as an image, and th e right corporate identification makes it easier for the company to achieve its business objectives. The right consumer experience with a corporate identity helps them to choose the company when it comes down to a decision. Therefore, setting up a clear and positive corporate identity especially for a company in its earliest stages of development, such as Invest Toronto is very important. To achieve this, the company requires a corporate identity that reflects its value, ethics, future and principles, and one that gives a strong positive visual experience of the company. Since among the companyââ¬â¢s objectives and roles is attracting foreign companies to Invest Toronto, the logo should be understood by people from different cultures and give a positive image to them as well. We also conducted research on the client company, and found that there was lack of consistency in terms of brand identity. The use of different background logo colors in different social media might confuse viewers and alleviate planting of a clear visual representation of company to its audiences. Thus, when creating a corporate identity, there should be a strong, clear branding system and marketing strategies that expose the company to the public more. Description of the client company Invest Toronto is the primary business, sales and marketing corporation for the City of Toronto and was organized by Toronto City Council in September 2008, Invest Toronto's initial Directors Board was confirmed by Toronto City Council on February 24, 2009. There are fifteen board of directors since the company is at the starting stages it has about thirty employees are under Renato Discenza the CEO and President of Invest Toronto. The city is the sole shareholder of Invest Toronto and the former has set up the business objectives for the company, which corresponded to its interests. Precedents/ case studies 1British Columbia Lottery Corporation: The rebranding of the British Columbia Lottery Corporati on in 2011 was one of the most recent successful rebranding measures similar to the rebranding of Invest Toronto, since British Colombia Lottery Corporation is closely connected to Provincial Government of British Colombia since its establishment. Considering the requirement of understanding gambling industry, the advertising agency, Cossette, had to look into the Government, media, and public review to fulfill the
